Our Services and the Costs
Once you have contacted us to ask for our help we will ask you to send us any relevant information about your child including reports from current and recent schools – if possible, in English. We should be grateful to know of any definite ideas or specific requirements you may have at this stage for your child's education; including, for example, whether you favour coeducation or single-sex education, whether you have any geographical requirements, and whether you prefer a largely boarding environment or a school with a significant proportion of day pupils. It would also be helpful to know whether you have any family relatives or close family friends resident in the UK; and, if so, in which part of the country they live.
At this stage we will ask you for an initial fee payment. This covers our standard service, including advice on selection of schools, contacts with the schools, arrangement of visits and school interviews, and obtaining test papers.
We will maintain regular contact with you, usually by e-mail but if necessary also by telephone, in order to update you on our progress and to receive any additional or changed instructions from you.
We ask for a second fee payment once a place (conditional or unconditional) has been offered to your child by one or more of the chosen schools. In the unlikely event that no offer is received, we do not charge a second fee, but we would request payment of incidental travel and miscellaneous expenses incurred.
Some UK schools offer agents and educational consultants a commission based on a proportion of the first year's school fees when a student is placed with them. A possible disadvantage of this system is that consultants may be tempted to favour only or mostly those schools from which they obtain commission. We prefer not to follow this system, since we wish to be able to be completely unbiased in our recommendations, matching our advice to the genuine interests of the child. This does mean, however, that we need to cover our costs by charging a fee to parents.
If you happen to decide, with our help, that the right school for your child is one which does actually pay us a commission, we would reduce or waive our second charge to you.
